Keynote to support struggling writers.

I have a group of year 4 students who are working on writing a sentence independently. Two of these students are also supported by a speech language therapist to support their oral language development.

One of the activities the SLT suggested was using a word map to get students to plan their writing. I took this and used keynote to make it into an activity they could do independently.

Students can find their image online and then use the voice recorded prompts to do their planning. When students have used the microphone to record their answer it plays back for them to check their idea.

It has been great to see students building their independence at writing time by using this tool.
