In the Code + Create program at Boys & Girls Clubs of Silicon Valley, over 160 youth designed their very own apps on Keynote, using the App Design Journal and Workbook. 14 finalists were then invited to participate in a final showcase where they pitched their ideas and demonstrated their prototypes in front of a panel of judges. For more tips on how to run a successful showcase, read through the App Showcase Guide and/or our experience with putting on a showcase!
To streamline the judging process, we created a digital rubric on Numbers that would automatically tally up the judges' scores!
To use it, start by downloading the file attached.
Sheet 1 has a running total of all the judges' scores using the SUM function that references the corresponding cells in the following sheets. It also contains a written description of all the different categories being judged.
Each of the following sheets are identical and should be assigned to an individual judge. They can then score each part of the presentation by clicking on the stars to rate it from 1-5 or by checking the box for 1 point. Each column is assigned to one presentation.
Edit the number of columns and the number of sheets according to the number of presenters and the number of judges you have, respectively. Also, edit the categories to fit your purposes. Just be sure to double check the formulas on Sheet 1 and the labels on the following sheets!
Then, save the file and upload it to Box. Share a collaborative link with your judges (Numbers on the Web works well for this) and watch the magic happen!
Attach up to 5 files which will be available for other members to download.
